A fight in the stands at a pro Dutch hockey tournament quickly turned into a family affair as the game's referee and a backup goaltender with one of the teams playing tried to join their dad in the fray.

According to a report from IJSHockey.com, translated by EuroHockey.com, there was an altercation in the crowd last week during a round-robin game for the Netherlands Ice Hockey Association’s Larry van Wieren Cup between the Geleen Smoke Eaters and Eindhoven Kemphanen. Among the participants was the father of ref Ramon Sterkens and Eindhoven backup goalie Michael Sterkens.

Both sons were livid and tried to join the fight. Ramon attempted to leave the ice but was stopped by arena staff, who refused to open the Zamboni door while the linesmen tried to hold him back. Michael went another route, attempting to climb over the glass.

The game was called off with about 15 minutes left in the third period and the victory was given to the Kemphanen (which translates into Fighting Roosters), who were leading 5-1 at the time.

In an interesting twist, the two teams will face off this weekend in the tournament final.
