U.S. President Barack Obama sent Prime Minister Stephen Harper beer this week after losing his Olympic hockey bet with the Canadian leader.

On Monday, Obama's National Security Council tweeted at their "thirsty friends" at the Connect2Canada account, which is run by the foreign affairs department, to ensure the beer had arrived safely.

"We don't want @PMHarper thinking we didn't come through," the NSC tweeted.

Connect2Canada tweeted a photo of two boxes of beer, one of the White House honey porter and one of the White House honey blonde.

Even Harper acknowledged the arrival of the beer, which is brewed at the White House, saying "Nice to see @barackobama sent my beer!"

Harper and Obama placed a friendly wager on the women's hockey final and the men's semi-final, where the U.S. and Canada met on the ice. Canada won both games — the women won gold and the men went on to beat Sweden for the gold.
