A Florida hockey dad was arrested for child abuse Wednesday after he allegedly went onto the ice and attacked a 14-year-old player who elbowed his son in the head.

During a game Sunday, witnesses alleged Matthew Supran punched the victim in the face before grabbing the teen by the helmet and slamming his head into the boards around the rink, Palm Beach County police told the Sun-Sentinel.

Supran had to be pulled off the player by the referee and a coach, police alleged.

The ref also told police the elbow that sparked the incident was not malicious.

Supran, 44, stands 6-foot-3 and weights 230 pounds. His website lists him as the chiropractor for his son’s hockey team.

“The parents get really worked up at these games. A lot of them say and do things they shouldn’t do. But this went to a whole new level,” the alleged victim's mother, Kristy Cardieri, told NBC affiliate WPTV.

Supran was released on $3,000 bail.

“It is our job as parents to teach them how to behave and unfortunately now it is my job to teach my son that it is not OK to let an adult hit him,” Cardieri said.
