EDMONTON - Sam Gagner didn’t hesitate when getting the call to play in the Spengler Cup.

The Edmonton Oilers centre was already in Europe and has never turned down an opportunity to represent his country.

“It’s been great experience, so far. Everyone gets geared up for the Spengler Cup around here,” said Gagner on a call from Davos, Switzerland.

“Just around the city there’s an excitement and it’s a pretty fun thing to be a part of.”

Gagner is one of three Oilers taking part in the annual tournament along with Devan Dubnyk and Ryan Smyth on the Team Canada roster.

Former Oilers Cam Barker and Marc-Antoine Pouliot are also on the squad.
