Mitchell key in Mannheim win
By QMI Agency

DAVOS, SWITZERLAND - Saugeen Shores native Adam Mitchell scored as Adler Mannheim upset team Canada 2-1 in overtime Wednesday at the Spengler Cup.

Mitchell, 30, played for the now defunct junior-B Owen Sound Greys from 1998 to 2001. He earned a scholarship to Colgate University and then went to Europe to play pro hockey. He has seven goals and 12 assists in 32 games this season with the Eagles, who play in the German Elite League.

Canada rebounded from Wednesday’s loss with a 5-0 win Thursday over defending champions, host HC Davos. Canada plays four European club teams over the six-day tournament.
