A new outdoor rink is coming to Ottawa, but when and where have yet to be determined.

Monday's Ottawa Senators and Hockey Canada announcement coincided with news that Ottawa will play host to the 2011 Hockey Canada Foundation gala, which will be held at the brand new Ottawa Convention Centre in June.

Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson said the city has only been asked to donate land for the Rink of Dreams — a refrigerated outdoor rink that will stay usable through even mercurial winters.

"It's a very good deal for taxpayers," he said. "It's a very good deal for people who want to skate and play hockey outdoors for a longer season."

The city will also pay operating costs, but Watson said Hockey Canada and the Senators would even kick in the Zamboni.

The June dinner and golf events will be the eighth Hockey Canada Foundation gala.

The foundation raises money to support minor hockey programs.
