MONTREAL — A minor hockey coach has been arrested and charged for alleged sex assaults against two of his players, and police say other young boys might also have been molested.

Gilbert Dube, 55, coached for decades in Montreal as well as a suburb north of the city. He was arrested last week and released on bail.

Police spokesman Olivier Lapointe told QMI Agency Wednesday that investigators suspect there could be additional victims because of the sheer number of children with whom Dube has had contact over the years.

“Sometimes children are ashamed to speak about it,” said Lapointe. “They think it's their fault even if in fact they're the ones who were assaulted.”

One of the two alleged assaults occurred last year, police said.

Dube faces three counts of sexual touching, one count of invitation to sexual touching and two counts of sexual exploitation of minors.
