Prime Minister Stephen Harper took in a victory by his son Ben's team yesterday at the Walter Baker Sports Centre in Barrhaven.

Young Mr. Harper, a defenceman, had a couple of assists as the St. Laurent Senators won their first two games of the tournament in the Atom House A Division, 6-1 over the West End Bulldogs and 4-1 over the Cumberland Snipers.

They were to wrap up the round-robin portion of their schedule last night against the Nepean Dominators.

Interesting to note that there is also a Trudeau and a Mackenzie on the Senators team which must surely lead the tournament in political references.

The Moscow North Stars promised they would show Canada how they played Russian hockey when they got back their lost equipment.

They weren't kidding.

The Peewee Minor AA North Stars, who had their equipment misplaced by an airline and had to play their first game with borrowed stuff, got their gear back yesterday morning and went out and thumped the Connecticut Lazers 10-1.

The North Stars' equipment didn't make it onto their plane when they left Europe and, thanks to a wonderful outpouring of support from the hockey community here, they were outfitted with donated equipment in time for their first game Thursday, a 1-1 tie.

It remains to be seen who is going to win the Peewee House A division at the Bell Capital Cup, but the unofficial title of best name has to go to the West End Kung Fu Chickens. Along with the Kung Fu Chickens, you've got the Cumberland Crazy Crickets, the Stittsville Flying Squirrels and the West End Nightmare in that division.
