CALGARY - Canyon Meadows Golf & Country Club was slated to host the provincial senior men's championship next summer ... and then something unexpected happened.

The Champions Tour called.

No offence to the best 50-plus pin-seekers in Alberta, but they’ve been bumped by the best on the entire planet.

Calgary Sun columnist Eric Francis first reported the news late last month and the Champions Tour made it official Wednesday, announcing its schedule for the upcoming season includes the inaugural Calgary Golf Classic, with three rounds of competition from Aug. 30-Sept. 1 at Canyon Meadows.
