Chill out on U.S. Ryder Cup captain Tom Watson

The belief among many is that Ryder Cup stalwart Larry Nelson should have been named U.S. captain for the next edition at Gleneagles in Scotland two years hence.

And even the most ardent supporters of the guy who did get the job would find it difficult to argue against Nelson's case.

Likewise, the selection of eight-time major champion Tom Watson shouldn't be overly analyzed either, just because he was picked over Nelson. Watson is, after all, the most recent U.S. captain to win in Europe, that going all the way back to 1993. Sadly, however, Nelson has never had that chance.
