Martin Kaymer had his Superman cape on again Friday at the U.S. Open.
After his shocking 65 on Thursday, the 29-year-old warned the world not to expect another 65 on Friday. Then he delivered precisely that.
With Tiger Woods home on his couch and Phil Mickelson climbing into his golf bag looking for a putting stroke, Kaymer was soaring over Pinehurst like a superhero.
During Round 2 at Pinehurst No. 2, the strapping German sure looked the part.
“That’s Kaymer’s drive, right there,” says a dad to his wife and son at the difficult fourth hole. “Let’s get up to the green so we can see his approach shot.”
“Wait a minute,” said mom. “You guys just like looking at his golf ball. I like looking at him.”
