14-year-old added to U.S. Open field
By KIRK PENTON, QMI Agency

SAN FRANCISCO - History will be made at the U.S. Open this week when 14-year-old Andy Zhang tees it up at the Olympic Club, becoming the youngest competitor in the golf tournament since at least the Second World War.

Zhang, who was born in China but lives in Florida, was an alternate for the 112th edition of golf's second major, but made his way into the field when Brandt Snedeker withdrew because of a rib injury and Paul Casey pulled out due to a shoulder problem.

Another teenager, University of Texas star Jordan Spieth, punched his ticket to play when Snedeker withdrew.

Zhang won't graduate high school until 2016. The previous youngest U.S. Open competitor was 15-year-old Tadd Fujikawa at Winged Foot in 2006.

Zhang lost in a playoff at a U.S. Open sectional qualifier earlier this month.

Do you think Chad Johnson can still play at a high level in the NFL?
Yes, he is a talented receiver
No, he is too old to play
CFL might be a better option
