AUGUSTA, GA. - Steve Stricker has long been one of the better putters on the PGA Tour. Now we’re learning he’s not bad as a teacher of the art of the flat stick, either.

Stricker spent an hour on the practice green with Tiger Woods one day last month at Doral, straightening up the World No. 1’s posture and, since then, Woods has been sinking just about everything he looks at.

In his most recent 144 tournament holes, Woods has made 35 putts of eight feet or longer. On the weekend during his win at Bay Hill two weeks ago, he sank 16 of 17 putts inside 20 feet.

So, the question for Stricker Monday was: Did the great man offer anything in return?

“Ah .... no,” said Stricker with a smile. He amended his answer after some second thought.

“You know, I played 14 holes with him yesterday and we were talking about pitching and chip shots and little wedge play. We were talking about that a lot."
