PITTSFORD, N.Y. - Ten final thoughts from a riveting 2013 PGA Championship at Oak Hill, where workers probably are still hacking through the ankle-high rough searching for Phil Mickelson’s off-target drives.

1. Where has Tiger’s putter gone? In the majors, at least, you never see Woods regularly drain those 30-foot snakes down the stretch to gut the opposition. Perhaps even more alarming is the number of putts he misses from 10 feet or less. Remember when those were pretty much gimmees for the World No. 1? Not any more.

2. While on the subject of Tiger, what happened to those days when he would pull out the driver on even the narrowest of holes as if he were being challenged? It’s what made Tiger, well, Tiger. These days he spends more time keeping the Big Dog in the bag and hitting stingers off the tee with hybrids or long irons. Caution used to be a phrase that wasn’t in his vocabulary.
