There is hope for a dramatic, fan-friendly finish at the RBC Canadian Open, which sure beats the alternative of a bunch of lesser-name pros slugging it out.

With the days of many of the world’s best players coming this way seemingly in the rear-view mirror, Golf Canada can’t really ask for much of a better halfway leaderboard than what has shaped up for this weekend at Royal Montreal.

A two-time tourney champion in Jim Furyk is a co-leader, the top Canadian player on the PGA Tour (Graham DeLaet) sits in a tie for third and a couple of the other biggest names in the field (Matt Kuchar and Graeme McDowell) both are in the top 10.
