And so it begins again. The great debate.

The debate about who is great, who is greatest.

Reignited by a 25-year-old from Northern Ireland. Reignited by a sublime golf performance.

Pick your sides, stand your ground. Throw down your gloves.

Before it involved just Jack and Tiger. Now Rory’s name has been thrown into the fray.

It was added the minute he dropped his par putt on the 18th green at Royal Liverpool on Sunday to win the 143rd British Open. Added the minute he became the third-youngest player in history to win three of the four major titles.

Jack Nicklaus did it when he was 23 years, 181 days. Tiger Woods did it when he was 24 years, 171 days. Rory McIlroy has now done it at just 25 years, 77 days.
