HOYLAKE, ENGLAND - David Hearn is heading into the RBC Canadian Open on a high note.

The Brantford, Ont., native wrapped up an impressive week at his first British Open by firing a final-round 71 on Sunday at Royal Liverpool golf course.

The score gave him a four-round total of three-under-par 285 and put him into a tie for 32nd place.

“I take away a lot of confidence,” Hearn said after his round.

“I really feel good about my game. I kept the ball in play all week and had really good control. I just didn’t score as well as I could have. I felt like I was real close all week. Obviously I don’t think I was close enough to be contending for the championship, but I felt like, even today, if I had capitalized on a few more putts I could have been right up there in the top-10 and in the mix.”
