HOYLAKE, ENGLAND - He has played just 36 holes of competitive golf in the past three months, hasn’t won a major in six years, and has slipped all the way down to No. 7 in the world rankings.

But it doesn’t seem to matter.

If you wanted to spot Tiger Woods on Sunday at Royal Liverpool during a practice round for the 2014 British Open all you had to do was look out across the grass-covered dunes that sit near the shores of the Irish Sea and follow the mass of bobbing heads.

It doesn’t seem to matter that Tiger is now 38 years old and not the invincible player he once was. It doesn’t seem to matter that he has been hampered by injuries — the most recent being back troubles that required surgery at the end of March. And it doesn’t seem to matter that he has never been particularly fan-friendly, people want to see him play.
