John Daly says he doesn’t regret gambling away close to $55 million.

He “had a lot of fun doing it,” he admitted in a recent interview.

The 48-year-old, who has a pair of major wins, admits he lost a fortune between 1991 and 2007, chalking it up to little more than “stupidity.”

He also had a bout with substance abuse during that period.

So, the above video got us thinking: Who are some other hard-partying athletes?

Here are the top five names that immediately popped into our minds.

GEORGE BEST

The long-time Manchester United midfielder (1963-1974) didn’t try to hide his hard-partying ways. He famously boasted about the fun he had throughout his career. “I spent a lot of money on booze, birds, and fast cars,” Best is best remembered for saying. “The rest I just squandered.”

DAVID WELLS

The long-time MLB hurler certainly wasn’t known for his fitness. He once admitted to being half-wasted while throwing a perfect game for the New York Yankees on May 17, 1998. In the book “Perfect I’m Not! Boomer on Beer, Brawls, Backaches and Baseball," Wells says he loaded up on caffeine and aspirin before taking the mound against the Twins on his perfect day.

JOE NAMATH

The New York Jets legend “just wanted to kiss” an ESPN reporter back in 2003. He later admitted to having an alcohol problem. But, hey, when you’re a Super Bowl champion, the city of New York will always hold you near and dear.

PATRICK KANE

The Chicago Blackhawks star went on a legendary Cinco de Mayo bender that was well-documented when photos popped up online. He was also taken into custody in Buffalo a few years back following a late-night dust-up with a cab driver.

JOHN DALY

Daly’s caddie once said that “the most important thing in (Daly’s) life is getting drunk.” And, at least at one point, gambling away more money than most of us will ever see was a massive aspect of Daly's existence as well.
