As much as his win in December was a much-needed shot in the arm for Rory McIlroy, his victory Sunday at the European Tour BMW PGA Championship in England was a sign that the former world No. 1’s game may be rounding into form.

Fresh on the heels of his breakup with tennis star Caroline Wozniacki, McIlroy came from seven back to, remarkably, pick up his first European Tour win on European soil Sunday as Thomas Bjorn blew the five-shot lead he had coming into the final round. Of his six wins, including the two majors in the U.S., this is the first to come in Europe as the others were in Dubai (2) and Hong Kong.

The wedding invitations reportedly had been sent before McIlroy called off the engagement last week, but on Sunday he served notice that he’s to be a force to be reckoned with for the remaining three majors of the season.
