For anyone who has followed Adam Scott’s career, it was never a surprise that he eventually found his way to Augusta National’s Butler Cabin on Sunday evening of Masters week in 2013.

The surprise was that it took him so long.

Seldom has a young player appeared upon the international golf scene with the swing, the game, the maturity and the credentials that Scott brought with him to the professional ranks at the age of 19 in the year 2000. As a teenaged amateur in Australia, he was as heralded a prodigy in his country as Tiger Woods was in his.

At 23, Scott won the prestigious Players Championship, the so-called fifth major, and a presumed stepping stone to the green-jackets and claret jugs that surely were just around the corner.

And then .... silence.
