He’ll have to reach out from a small crowd, but Brad Fritsch is within striking distance of his first PGA title.

An even-par 72 on Saturday left the Manotick, product just three shots off the lead heading into the final round of the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.

Holding top spot in the tournament at eight under is Gary Woodland, while Marc Leishman and Jordan Spieth are one back at seven under and Pat Perez and Morgan Hoffman sit two off the pace at six under.

Fritsch is in a logjam of seven golfers at five under.

The 36-year old Rideau View member is finding a level of comfort on this difficult San Diego course, as he had the best finish of his rookie season at Torrey Pines in 2013, tying for ninth at the same event.
