OTTAWA - As Brad Fritsch wheeled into the parking lot of his San Diego hotel Monday afternoon, it really should have been to the accompaniment of a Beach Boys tune on the local oldies station.

"I'm going into an event right now where I obviously played good last year," the blond-haired, blue-eyed Manotick, Ont., product said into his cell. "I have good vibes."

Spelled out, those good, good, good vibrations stem from his T9 finish and the $146,400 cheque he pulled from it at Torrey Pines in the 2013 Farmers Insurance Open. Playing in just his third tournament as a PGA rookie, Fritsch battled stars like Tiger Woods and Brandt Snedeker before slipping out of contention with a 75 on the final day.
