Ah, it’s that special time of year when the ultra rich fire up their private jets and whirl around the globe to collect hefty appearance fees.

Some refer to it as golf’s silly season, but this year the end-of-year sweepstakes have been paying off for a few of the sports biggest stars.

In the past few weeks, some of the game’s highest-ranked players have collected wins -- providing some much-needed relief after a lacklustre 2013 season.

A bunch of the top 25 golfers in the world have won recently, including former No. 1 players Rory McIlroy and Luke Donald, whose struggles this season have been well documented. For both players, it was their first win in about a year.
