One year older, no closer to Jack’s record.
That’s how the world sees Tiger Woods’ season. And it’s his own fault.
Woods famously had Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 majors taped to his wall. For all we know, he still does. It was Woods who brought the majors-or-bust attitude with him to the tour. Who can blame the public for playing along?
The man who used to collect major championships like ball markers hasn’t added to his total of 14 in more than five years.
He was embarrassed by a rules violation at the Masters, before finishing tied for fourth. He flamed out at the U.S. Open at Merion. Blamed the greens on Sunday for falling out of contention at the Open Championship. And was nowhere to be seen at the PGA Championship.
So, has this season been a failure?
Like all things Tiger Woods, it’s open for argument.
That his season could be seen by some as a failure is proof to his supporters that he is the greatest of all time.
