GULLANE, SCOTLAND - Henrik Stenson held the silver plate awarded to the runner-up at the British Open, matching the best finish by a Swedish player in a major championship.

Jesper Parnevik finished a solo second at the 1994 Open championship and tied for second in 1997.

Stenson, 37, looks like heís recovered the form he showed in 2009 when he won The Players Championship with a closing 66.

ďYeah, Iíve done some great improvement this season. I know it might sound silly and a bit stupid to say that I didnít feel like Iím overly confident with some parts of my game, but I still managed to keep it together. Itís a work in progress. Itís long-term goals in all the different areas,Ē said Stenson, whose 1-unde-par 70 Sunday left him three shots behind champion Phil Mickelson.

ďI just feel like Iíve been patient and Iím working away on the long term rather than trying to go for the quick fix. Iím still not there, but Iím enjoying myself on the golf course and feel like itís heading in the right direction all the time.

ďWhen I was out of form, I was chasing my tail a little bit, trying to find something that would work for the week all the time instead of looking at the bigger picture and having more patience and calmness about it and thatís definitely paying off.Ē
