Unlike victorious hockey players, who get the Stanley Cup only for a day, the winner of the British Open gets the Claret Jug for a year.

Like Lord Stanley's mug, it can come back a little worse for wear.

Defending champion Ernie Els, who's been known to enjoy the odd glass of vino, returned the Jug to R&A head Peter Dawson Monday morning. He said there were a lot of miles put on the Jug, but it was returned in pretty good shape.
