It’s a cliche to those of us who don’t play the game at the elite level, only because we hear about “the process” so often from those who do. What makes it so confusing for those outside the ropes is that some players seemingly shoot though this process, while others seem mired in it.

Graham DeLaet, who earned his fifth top-10 finish of the season with his T8 at the AT&T Sunday, put the pedal to the metal in 2009 when he made the rare jump from what was the Canadian Tour to the PGA Tour, but he’s admittedly had his challenges.

With DeLaet’s first PGA Tour victory apparently imminent, he was candid just hours after just missing a playoff at the Travelers Championship a week ago, pointing to a couple of disappointing up-and-downs on the back nine as his undoing, even there was no glaring mistake.
