The Memorial Tournament draws a stellar field because of its host, of course, but Jack Nicklaus isn't the only reason the players have come to play at the immaculate Muirfield Village this year.

The Memorial has been a preparation event for the U.S. Open (at Merion in two weeks), and for some a preparation for an attempt to qualify for that event with a 36-hole qualifier on Monday in Columbus, Ohio.

This year, there's added preparation for some of the game's top players as Muirfield will also play host to the Presidents Cup this October.

Five of the current top 10 in the international rankings, topped by Masters champ Adam Scott, are in the field this week at Memorial, while eight of the top 10-ranking Americans (as well as several from both squads on the outside looking in) are teeing it up this week.
