How quickly a 63 to tie the course record at one of the most renowned venues in golf becomes yesterday’s news. Maybe even incentive for the marquee names who, like Roberto Castro did on Thursday, hoped to feast on the gentle morning conditions at TPC Sawgrass.

By the time the previously unknown Castro took his first tee shot at 12:56 p.m. on Friday at the Players Championship, he already knew the three-shot lead he had built with his stunning 63 the day before had evaporated.

So what have you done lately, Mr. Castro?

He hinted that it might be a strong day when he birdied the second hole, but after a par on the third, Castro bogeyed four of the next five holes to start a downward spiral that left him with a 78, a 15-shot swing that leaves him at three under.
