PGA Tour commissioner speaks out against proposed ban on anchored putting

In a rather comical magic trick, a video of PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem chatting about the USGA’s and R&A’s proposed ban on anchored putting appeared, then vanished, from the PGA Tour’s website, one assumes for timing reasons.

Finchem also was scheduled to appear Sunday on the NBC telecast of the Accenture Match Play Championship between Hunter Mahan and Matt Kuchar, so it appears to be a case of an antsy trigger finger on the part of one of the tour’s web guys.

Timing was important just because Finchem’s comments made public the fact that the tour was actually taking a different stand than golf’s governing bodies on the anchored putting issue, but in reality, Finchem didn’t say anything more on the NBC telecast than we expected.
