BELEK, TURKEY - Tiger Woods defeated Rory McIlroy by six strokes in the pair's highly anticipated match on Thursday, then fell to Justin Rose in the semifinals of the Turkish Airlines World Golf Final.

Rose will meet Ryder Cup teammate Lee Westwood in the championship match on Friday after the latter took down Charl Schwartzel with a 10-under 61.

Woods and McIlroy were originally scheduled to square off Wednesday afternoon but the first-round showdown was pushed back a day after heavy storms pounded the Sultan Course at Antalya Golf Club.

On Thursday, Woods carded a bogeyless 64 to dispatch world No. 1 McIlroy with ease, earning a semifinal berth in the process.

There, the second-ranked Woods fell to Rose by a single stroke. The Englishman carded a 69 and highlighted his round with an eagle on the 14th.

Westwood advanced to the final with victories over reigning U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson and Schwartzel.

The world No. 4 Westwood carded a 64 early Thursday to down Simpson by three strokes, then recorded the low round of the tournament to take out Schwartzel.
