Seoul, Korea - Rickie Fowler shot a three-under 68 on Sunday to win The 54th Korea Open by an impressive six strokes for his first professional victory.
Fowler, 22, has gone through an up-and-down year on the PGA Tour, but finally cracked through with a dominant performance in the joint OneAsia Tour and Korean Tour event at Woo Jeong Hills, finishing at 16-under 268. He entered the final round with a four- stroke lead and was never challenged for the title.
World No. 3 Rory McIlroy (64) had an excellent round, but finished a distant second at 10-under 274. Meen Whee Kim (71) came in third at seven-under, while 2010 champ Y.E. Yang (75) struggled and finished fourth at minus-five.
Fowler had five birdies and was headed toward a flawless round until two closing bogeys made the final margin closer than it really was.
