PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- Stuart Appleby was named the PGA Tour's 2010 Comeback Player of the Year on Monday after a vote by fellow tour golfers.

One year after falling out of the top 125 on the money list for the first time since his rookie year of 1996, and being forced to use a one-time only top-25 career money list exemption, Appleby fired a final-round 59 to win The Greenbrier Classic.

"Congratulations to Stuart Appleby for being voted the PGA Tour Comeback Player of the year by his peers," said PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem. "Stuart showed great perseverance in returning to the winner's circle at The Greenbrier Classic in a historic manner."

Appleby beat out Arjun Atwal and Rocco Mediate for the award.
