Ponte Vedra Beach - Already the winner of one group's honor, Jim Furyk headlined the list of nominees for the PGA Tour Player of the Year award.

Furyk compiled a remarkable 2010 season, clinching the $10 million FedEx Cup title for the first time with a win at the Tour Championship -- his third victory of the year.

Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar joined Furyk on a list of five candidates announced Tuesday.

Not on the list? Ten-time PGA Tour Player of the Year Tiger Woods, who failed to win an event for the first time in his career.

Furyk was the only three-time winner on the PGA Tour this season and was already handed the PGA of America's Player of the Year award last week, beating Kuchar and Steve Stricker for that honor.

Mickelson made the list of nominees for the tour's award on the strength of his Masters win, while Els earned two wins and finished third on the money list behind Kuchar and Furyk.

Johnson is best known for a two-stroke penalty that kept him out of the PGA Championship playoff and for giving up a 54-hole lead at the U.S. Open, but he also won twice and ended fourth on the money list.

Kuchar topped the money list despite winning just once. He tied for the tour lead with 11 top-10 finishes and took second place behind Furyk in the final FedEx Cup standings.

The winner will be announced December 4.
