ORLANDO, FL - World No. 1 Tiger Woods committed to play in the 2011 Dubai Desert Classic on Sunday.

Woods skipped the event in 2010 while in rehab, but he will return to The Emirates Golf Club early next season.

In five starts at this event, Woods has two victories -- in 2006 and 2008 -- and three other top-five finishes in Dubai. When he shared fifth in 2004, that was his worst finish.

"The level of competition has always been extremely high, so I know I'll have to play my best golf if I'm going to regain my title," Woods stated on his website.

Woods, the defending champion at Firestone, will try to win his eighth World Golf Championships - Bridgestone Invitational next week, then will play in the season's final major, the PGA Championship in two weeks.
