Tiger Woods is known for some raunchy text messages between himself and a former mistress, but Monday night he got a text of a different kind -- a resignation from his coach.

Hank Haney told The Golf Channel he believes "it is in both of our best interests for me to step aside as Tiger's coach," People.com reports.

Haney didn't give an exact reason for quitting, but told Dallas radio station KTCK-AM that he resigned via text message.

"I texted him last night and he texted me back," Haney told the radio station. "We went back and forth for a while, but he had his kids last night and couldn't talk. We are going to talk later today."

After the scandal of Woods' extramarital affairs broke, one of his mistresses, Veronica Siwik-Daniels, a.k.a. Joslyn James, posted racy texts she said were from Woods on a website. Some of the texts were to connect so the two could hook up, while others went into graphic detail about sex acts.

Woods pulled out of the Players Championship last week due to a neck injury. He was 12 shots off the lead.

Before that, Woods tied for fourth at the Masters and he missed the cut at the Quail Hollow Championship.

Haney said he believes Woods will find his game again.

"I really believe that given the chance, mind free and injury free, we will all see Tiger Woods play once again like we all know he can," he told the radio station.
