Kim banking on a good finish
By STEVE BUFFERY, SUN MEDIA

OAKVILLE -- Next to Canadians Mike Weir and Stephen Ames, one of the favourites at the RBC Canadian Open is American Anthony Kim, who finished eighth last year.

One of the reasons Kim is so appreciated here is one of his major sponsors is the Royal Bank of Canada.

Kim, 24, failed to make the cut at the British Open, but he finished third at the AT&T National last month after shooting a course-record 62 in the first round at Congressional.

He also withdrew from three tournaments because of illness and has been hampered with a sore left thumb.

However, the Los Angeles native, who won twice on the PGA Tour last season, has declared himself fit and ready.

"I like the golf course, it sets up well for me," Kim said.

"It really is a driver's golf course and I feel like that is a strong suit of my game. If I can manage to keep the ball in play here, it should be a good week."
