Jack Nicklaus is apparently pretty good with the needle.
Just ask Charles Howell III.
"We're up at a players' meeting in Boston and I was at a table with David Toms, Zach Johnson and Hunter Mahan," Howell recalled.
"So (Nicklaus) went around. 'Zach, great job on winning the Masters, green jacket, that's fantastic, that's awesome.' 'David, another solid season, you are a steady, steady, player.' 'Hunter, you've really come a long here lately, this is fantastic, young guy.' "
Nicklaus turned to Howell.
"Charles ... you need a lesson."
3 FIT WOODS' BILL
Finding the right playing partners is not an exact science. Personalities, length off the tee, even the type of ball players use can come into play.
Nicklaus asked his players to write down who they would like to play with. Tiger Woods gave him three names, believed to be Howell, Jim Furyk and Steve Stricker.
"I could care less as long as we get a point," said Woods.
YANKS' BALD AMBITION
It was pointed out to Woods the victorious American women at the Solheim Cup had great team spirit. How could the men duplicate that?
"I think this year we are going to wear face paint and ribbons in our hair," he said. "A little hard for some of us who are balding." -- Chris Stevenson
