Els may come up north

It's still 10 months down the road, but Ernie Els said yesterday he's thinking about teeing it up in the Canadian Open next September.

"I don't want to put my head on the block and commit all the way, but I'm seriously considering it," Els said, offering the information unsolicited.

With Vijay Singh presumably back to defend, Els' inclusion would put the No. 1 and 2 players in the field at Shaughnessy in Vancouver.

As time goes on, Els may take a sober second look at it, however. He has never been a man afraid of gruelling travel, but this might be a bit much.

He's planning to play a tournament in Boston the week previous, then perhaps on to Vancouver, back to England to defend his World Matchplay title at Wentworth, then back to North America for the Presidents Cup.
