Chris Kirk has some big plans for the last weekend of September.

The University of Georgia graduate is supposed to be going to see his Bulldogs play Tennessee in football, and he’s the type of fan that uses terms like “we” and “us” when talking about his team.

But his final round 66 on Monday for a victory at the Deutsche Bank Championship near Boston may have Kirk changing his travel plans.

With the win, Kirk put himself into the conversation to be a Ryder Cup captain’s pick for the U.S. side.

Maybe it’s his way of deflecting the pressure, but Kirk almost dismissed the notion of being a Ryder Cup pick this week by saying he already had plans. If Tom Watson wants to take a player who’s on form, however, taking Kirk is plausible.

Kirk golfed alongside Rory McIlroy and outplayed him, and he held on to win the tournament while those around him, including Billy Horschel, fell short in their pursuit.
