DUBLIN, OHIO - If sheets of pelting monsoon-like rains could not stop Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley on Friday, what possible hope did Canada’s Graham DeLaet and Aussie Jason Day have?

Let’s put it this way: If Sammy the squirrel, the critter U.S. assistant captain Davis Love III made famous by carting around the course on Thursday, ran in front of a speeding 18-wheel transport truck on one of the nearby freeways, what chance would he have?

In both instances, the answer is the same.

None.

Both DeLaet and Day would be the first to tell you this: Masked behind Phil’s hypnotizing smile and Keegan’s rah-rah cheerleading are two of golf’s fiercest competitors who won’t think twice about chewing up opponents and spitting them out.
