DUBLIN, OHIO - With his heart beating and his palms sweating, Canada’s Graham DeLaet took a deep breath before jamming his tee into the ground at the opening hole of beautiful Muirfield Village on Thursday morning.

“I was so nervous at that point,” he would say later. “The only time I’ve ever been that nervous in my life is when I proposed to my wife.”

Getting set to play the first Presidents Cup match of his career, it was understandable that DeLaet was both jittery and eager.

There was just one problem.
