Steve Elkington’s tweet would make most people chuckle.

Except the International squad isn’t laughing.

“I don’t see how our boys aren’t the favourite … Got the 5 best actions on earth sitting there … Scott, Day, Els, Louie, Charl,” scribbled the Aussie, a former PGA championship winner, on his Twitter account.

At first blush, there seems to be more holes in Elkington’s statement than their are on the course at Muirfield Village, site of the 2013 Presidents Cup in Dublin, Ohio.

Are you serious Steve? Those five have superior form than that of Tiger, Phil and the rest of captain Fred Couples’ merry men, who have descended on central Ohio intent on improving on the U.S.’s lopsided record of 7-1-1?

One can imagine that particular tweet sparked a few guffaws over some frosty beverages in various 19th holes across America.
