Phil Mickelson will be announced this week as the newest member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, the Florida Times-Union has learned.

Mickelson, 40, will have earned induction in his first year of eligibility. He has won 39 PGA Tour events, including four majors.

The induction ceremony will be May 7, 2012 at St. Augustine, Fla.
