Retired Stanley Cup winner Joe Sakic added another accolade to his impressive career, his first off the ice.
The 42-year-old former NHL MVP sunk a hole-in-one during the American Century Champions celebrity golf tournament at Lake Tahoe, Nev., on Sunday, earning a cool $1 million for his effort.
The prize will be split between Sakic and Lance Armstrong's LIVEStrong Foundation, the designated charity of the tournament.
Sakic aced the 167-yard 17th hole for his first ever hole-in-one.
"I've never had a hole-in-one. In fact, I've never been close," Sakic told Craig Smith, the former director of media relations for the U.S. Golf Association.
"Trent (Dilfer) told me it went in, but I didn't believe him at first. I never imagined this. This is just great. I feel very fortunate to come to this tournament. For three days everyone here makes us feel like pros."
