AUGUSTA, Ga. - Dr. Anthony Galea, a Toronto physician facing charges for possessing performance-enhancing drugs, treated Tiger Woods for knee and achilles tendon problems but Woods says "he never gave me HGH or any PEDs."

"I've never taken an illegal drug, for that matter," Woods said.

Woods says Galea supervised platelet-enriched plasma treatments first for a torn ligament in his left knee and later for a torn Achilles tendon.

Woods said he suffered the torn tendon in December 2008 when he resumed training after the knee ligament had healed.

Woods said he chose to be treated by Galea because he had "worked with so many athletes."

Woods later said he took prescription drugs Ambien and Vidodin to help him overcome knee pain and for sleep but, contrary to reports, he has never been treated for a prescription drug addiction.
