TORONTO - Lydia Ko figures Canadian amateur golf star Brooke Henderson might as well embrace the “professional” question.

After all, Henderson, like the New Zealand-raised LPGA star last year, wouldn’t constantly be asked when she plans to turn pro if she wasn’t playing well.

Ko, on a conference call on Monday to promote the LPGA’s Canadian Pacific Women’s Open next week in London, was asked about the Smiths Falls, Ont., native in the wake of another strong showing: Her runner-up finish at the U.S. women’s amateur championship on Sunday.

“Brooke’s playing some awesome golf — she was in the finals of the U.S. Am and that’s a pretty long week,” said 2012 U.S. Am champ Ko, 17, who was born in 1997, just like the 16-year-old Henderson.

“This year, she’s been playing pretty awesome and I hope she’ll continue that golf for a while. Obviously, she’s going to be asked that (professional) question, but she’s playing great and I guess that’s what comes with it.”
