Michelle Wie is out three to five weeks with a finger injury, her management team announced Saturday.

Wie has a stress reaction in her right index finger. She withdrew from the Meijer LPGA Classic on Thursday and consulted with hand surgeon Dr. Tom Graham.

"I was looking forward to playing the next three weeks," Wie said in a statement. "It's honestly one of my favorite stretches on tour. It's extremely disappointing to miss these events, but I am relieved to have a proper diagnosis."

Wie will miss next week's Wegmans LPGA Championship in Rochester, N.Y., the final major championship of the season. She also will not compete in the Canadian Pacific Women's Open and the Portland Classic.

"Seven years ago, I would have tried to play through this injury and it is important to me not to make that mistake again," Wie said. "I feel more comfortable now listening to my body. And, while it's hard to miss this stretch of events, I know I will be better suited to continue a great year and finish strong."

The injury occurred from the wear and tear of playing, according to Graham.

Wie won the Women's U.S. Open in June.
