Less than a week after she cut a devastating swath through the Americans in Colorado, Solheim Cup hero Caroline Hedwall seems poised to inflict similar damage on an international field here in Canada.

The white-hot 24-year-old from Sweden, the first player in Solheim Cup history to go a perfect 5-0, was virtually flawless again on Saturday, shooting a 6-under par 64 at the Royal Mayfair for the 54-hole lead at the CN Canadian Women’s Open.

“I’m just on a roll right now, playing really well and having a lot of fun right now,” she said, adding she kind of saw this coming.

“I’ve been waiting for this, to be honest. I’ve been striking the ball really solid for the past two months.

“It’s just good to be up there and giving myself a good opportunity to win.”

Hedwall started the day in 12th after back-to-back 68s, but seven birdies and a bogey moved her to 10-under par for the tournament.
